As you may be aware the Raising Standards of Pensions Administration
Project began in January 2002 with the aim of producing a set of
Guidance Notes to improve the standards of pensions administration
in the UK. This volunteer project was supported by Pension Managers,
Third Party Administrators and Pension Scheme Advisors. In May 2003
Raising Standards of Pensions Administration, established itself
as a company limited by guarantee. At the same time the first set
of Guidance Notes were published on the company's website (www.rspa.org).
The feedback received so far has been excellent and the work of
the group is being supported by industry bodies such as the National
Association of Pension Funds, the Occupational Pensions Defence
Union and Opra, but as those who were at the launch will know, the
guidance notes published were just the start.
Further work is continuing to maintain the existing Guidance Notes
and to expand them to include other areas where it is believed Guidance
Notes will provide valuable help to those in the industry. Although
the use of the company's website and Guidance Notes is free, we
would welcome the support of individuals to enable this work to
continue and invite you to apply for membership of Raising Standards
of Pensions Administration. A membership form is available for download
at our website (www.rspa.org).
Whilst there is no obligation to then contribute any time towards
the Working Groups, only by the continuing support of those in the
industry will we be able to develop the Guidance Notes for the benefit
of all. Therefore if you would like to join one of the working groups
either now or in the future, please also indicate this on the form.
