News From The Pensions Archive
Alan Herbert, Chairman of opdu’s Advisory Council

The Pensions Archive continues to make progress and has been receiving donations of further collections of material over recent months. These include collections of various publications from Kevin Sims of Pension Fund Partnership, 14 annual Pension Scheme Administration Surveys (1994-2007) from Capita Hartshead;
a complete set of Benefits and Compensation International (1971-2005) from David Callund on his move to Devon and copies of Professional Pensions (1997- 2005) from MSM International Ltd. There are some copies missing. If readers have back copies available do contact the Project Archivist for details of the copies required.

Katy Holman has been appointed Project Archivist by the City of London - London Metropolitan Archives which provides the archival services to The Pensions Archive Trust. She took up her appointment in July.

Katy is a graduate of the University of Wales (BA Hons) and completed her MA Archives and Records Management at University College London. She has worked over the last five years in both the private, public and academic sectors in archives and records management - for local authorities in Wales, the Royal Bank of Scotland and King's College London.  Katy has worked on a range of professional activities over this time; cataloguing to approved archival standards; answering enquiries (including Freedom of Information requests); setting up and running a public search room; maintaining webpages; setting up a records management store, auditing departmental records and establishing appropriate retention periods. Katy is a member of both the Records Management Society and the Society of Archivists for which she is close to completing her professional registration.

For the six months prior to taking up her appointment with the Pensions Archive Katy worked for GlaxoSmithKline in Brentford.  Here she managed the records management service, recruiting and training staff, creating records management procedures and guidelines and implementing them. Katy is very pleased to be pioneering the work of the Pensions Archive Trust.

A new website has been constructed; www.pensionsarchive.org.uk and is about to be launched.  This will be further developed as the Archive grows.

In order to fund the Project Archivist position and the costs of constructing the website the initial donations have been drawn down from our Sponsors.  We are very grateful to the following companies and organizations which are providing financial support to the project:
