Voluntary Pension Campaigns Join Forces
Two industry-wide voluntary groups, which are dedicated to raising
standards in occupational pensions in the UK, have joined forces.
Raising Standards of Pensions Administration (RSPA), which promotes
the advancement of knowledge and best practice in pensions
administration, and Raising Standards of Trustee Education (RSTE),
which supports ‘lay’ pension trustees, have teamed up within a
unified body.
Both organisations will continue to pursue their own aims and
objectives, but will work more closely together to promote their
common ambition to raise the standards of workplace pensions.
RSTE members are working on three projects this year: to produce
guidelines to help improve the communication between trustees and
all their advisers and service providers; to provide guidance on how
to improve the quality of trustee training; and finally to make
information from all sources that is of practical, educational value
to trustees freely available on its website.
About RSTE
The RSTE Campaign is a project launched in January 2007 which aims
to improve the quality of education, training and learning for all
trustees of pension schemes in the UK. It aims to establish a widely
promoted website of freely accessible information and guidelines for
lay trustees, to be updated and monitored on an ongoing basis.
It intends to work with trustees and pensions industry professionals
to ensure broad support of the RSTE website and its recommendations.
Its members include professionals from many of the leading pensions
firms as well as trustees from all walks of life.
RSTE is always looking for more volunteers to join and if you are
interested in participating, please contact Emma Watkins, Deputy
Chair of RSTE :

About RSPA
The Raising Standards of Pensions Administration project began in
January 2002 as a voluntary initiative by the pensions profession
and continues to operate on a voluntary basis to this day.
The objective of the initiative is the advancement of knowledge and
learning in respect of pensions administration, in particular
through the creation and maintenance of a collection of guidance
notes, case studies, tools and checklists, with the aim of improving
the standard of service delivered to members of pension arrangements
in the UK.
